Alabama Voices Writers in the Community highlights Alabama's rich contemporary literary culture by bringing nationally recognized established and emerging writers to selected communities in the state. Co-sponsored by the Auburn University Center for the Arts & Humanities (AU CAH) and the Alabama Writers' Forum (AWF), it offers meaningful literary arts programs that enrich and enhance citizens' educational, cultural, and arts experiences. |

The Annual Harper Lee Award for Alabama's Distinguished Writer The Harper Lee Award for a Distinguished Alabama Writer is an annual award, established in 1998, that recognizes the lifetime achievement of a writer who was born in Alabama or who spent his or her formative years living and writing in the state. The award, presented annually by Alabama Southern Community College at the Alabama Writers Symposium in Monroeville, is named for Harper Lee, whose novel To Kill a Mockingbird has sold more than 30 million copies.
