Administration: ABOUT THE ALABAMA WRITERS' FORUM

The Alabama Writers' Forum promotes and facilitates the practice of literary arts through its services to writers and the general public. With hundreds of individual and corporate associates statewide, the Forum represents diverse voices of today's writing talent. The Forum was founded in appreciation of Alabama's strong literary heritage with a commitment to its continuation.

The Forum's publications, as well as its sponsorship of educational programs and public appearances, focus attention on Alabama writers and encourage the efforts of writers and publishers. The Forum strives to support the work of teachers of writing and literature at all levels, not only for the love of the art, but in order to yield greater social and economic benefits for Alabama.

The Forum's statewide focus and its role as an advocate for the literary arts make it an important partner for educational institutions and other literary and arts groups. The Forum is a non-profit tax-exempt organization led by an 18-member volunteer Board of Directors. The National Endowment for the Arts and the Alabama State Council on the Arts provide major funding with additional support from corporate and individual donors.

For information about joining the Forum or about its programs, please write: The Alabama Writers' Forum, P.O. Box 4777, Montgomery, AL 36103-4777 or e-mail us at writersforum@bellsouth.net.
