Dale “Steve” Gierhart is a retired business manager for the United States Army. Based in Huntsville, Alabama, on Redstone Arsenal, his career lasted from 1975 to 2010, during which he was the business director for several missile and radar defense systems. Steve twice received the Army’s Superior Civilian Service Award as well as the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service, and he was recognized for his support to Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield. Before that (1973-1975) he worked for the Oklahoma Legislature as a research staffer. During that time he was responsible for writing the compendium, Boards, Agencies, and Commissions of Oklahoma State Government. He is a member of Huntsville Literary Association (HLA) where he chairs the Young Writers’ Contest, High School Short Story Division. The high school short story contest is open to most of North Alabama. He is responsible for writing the gothic fantasy novel, Shadow of The Conjurer, and he has written for Program Manager, The Journal of the Defense Systems Management University. He and his wife, Bonny, a retired engineer who worked as a contractor on several NASA and Army programs, enjoy traveling, family, and her Tennessee Walking Horses.
